My First Concert Experience

Believe it or not, I just recently attended my first concert in my twenty-four years of existence. I dreaded the idea of going to a concert, especially since Covid, because when I heard the word concert, I heard of a crowd, germs, people fighting, or just a bunch of drunk/high people. It wasn't something I had on my bucket list or was even slightly interested in. But I remember it being the Sunday before the concert, and I was scrolling through Instagram at 11 pm when I saw The Weeknd's concert post. It caught my attention because I had seen videos all over my fyp on TikTok. I immediately knew if there had to be a first time for concert for me, it was this one. I hit up one of my friends, and within a matter of minutes, I booked our tickets for the upcoming Thursday.

Days Before the Concert

I like to plan my things way ahead of time. So booking something on a Sunday night that will take place on a weekday was a bit unsettling to me. The best course of action I could do was to set myself up for success for the rest of the week. I planned out all my meals for the week, and I had set an OOO(out of office) reminder so nobody would put a meeting on my calendar. Everything executed as expected; luckily, the concert day didn't feel rushed, and I didn't get a random headache.

Concert Experience

As it was my first concert, I was already way too excited. Then on the top, it was The Weeknd. He doesn't host any random shows. This man puts up an entire performance, so I already "feel it coming". The concert started at 5:30 pm, and the openers were Mike Dean and Snoh Aalegra. I loved Snoh's songs but never knew her name, so when she came on the stage and started singing my favorite songs, I was shooketh.

The concert was at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and most of you already know how beautiful it is inside out. Mercedes Benz had a clear bag policy, and they didn't even let the smallest bags inside the stadium. Thankfully, they had arranged storage, so my friend and I stored our bags with them. Then we went inside the stadium looking for our seats.

I unknowingly booked our seats at the Delta Sky Club, and WOW, we had an amazing experience. We had our private confession stands, no lines, quick service, comfy seating, entrance to other lounges, and a pretty good view. Honestly, if you're not from Atlanta and you see the word "Delta" in front of something, get ready to be wow-ed.

Still Waiting for Abel

The Weeknd took way too long to come out. It was almost 9:30 by the time he came out. It was pitch dark outside, and the vibe was amazing. At this time, the stadium was packed, and the energy in the stadium was amazing. Then he comes out, and the entire stadium screams at the top of their lungs. The stage setup was impressive. They lit a real fire with smoke, rain, city vibes, and a hanging moon. That hour and fifteen minutes of The Weeknd being in "the zone" was immaculate. They gave us these bands that would light up at certain times, and it was a vibe. I think it's fair to say that by the end of the concert, I had successfully almost lost my voice. As I said before, it wasn't just a concert; it was a performance. I couldn't "feel my face" as I was "lost in the fire". But the fact that it's "over now", I'll stop using The Weeknd puns, lol. Go, watch my concert TikTok.

Will I Go Again?

Umm, if it's anything like this concert, sign me up. The standard was raised so high after this concert that I don't want to go to a concert if there is no light show, no fires, and no hanging moons. My ticket cost only $170, knowing that I bought it four days before the concert, so that wasn't bad. How much will I rate the concert? A full 10/10. It was no "wasted times". In fact, I "earned it". Ok, I'll stop now 🤪

Don't be like me and get stressed about last-minute plans. Be spontaneous, and as my sister says, "go with the flow".

Until next time, Peace✨
