How to Prioritize Problems in Life

A common trend these days among young people seems to be "tired af all the time". Many of us have a long to-do list at all times and never find ourselves getting rid of it. Even when we possibly end up getting enough sleep, we still feel restless and can't get to the end of this list. Sometimes, this list will include tasks that can be pushed farther into the future, but we feel pressured to do it immediately. This takes time and energy that we could be spending on urgent tasks resulting in a simpler life. Some of these tasks can be automated and or assigned to other people. So, today I will suggest different strategies to prioritize problems/tasks in your life so you can reserve your mental energy and feel energetic as needed.

Rating System

I have this rating system that I follow to assign importance to a task. It's a numbering system from 1-10, and the closer a task is to 10, the more important it gets. This helps me manage my anxiety and stress levels. If a task is closer to a 1, I already know it's a low-stress level task that can be completed later but needs to be acknowledged. Create your scale based on your anxiety levels and assign each problem a number on that scale. But make sure not to copy someone's scale as it's based on their tolerance level.

Eisenhower Matrix

Eisenhower matrix is one of the most organized ways of prioritizing a task. This comes in handy at school, work, home, and pretty much any area of life. If you're someone who can't seem to find time even after a whole day of running errands and the most important stuff on your list is still due, then you need this matrix in your life.

It goes something like this:

Firstly, if a task is urgent and important, we prioritize it and action it immediately. Secondly, if a task is important but not urgent, we schedule it for action. Thirdly, if a task is urgent but not important, we delegate it to another for action. Lastly, if a task is not urgent and not important we delete it.

Why is Prioritizing Important?

Prioritizing is essential to well-being. It saves time and energy. It creates a balance in life that helps a person stay sane. It can also potentially help you save money. Once you start prioritizing things in your life, you will feel confident in your decisions. Many people overthink their choices, and by using a priority system, a person can start feeling a difference in their anxiety levels. Less stress/anxiety means more mental clarity, and more mental clarity implies the ability to accomplish more awesome things. I hope you take this advice and come back to share it with me in the comments.
