How to Improve Your Appearance and Get More Dates This Summer

The most wonderful time of the year is finally here. Summer. A season that is very dear to me. A lot of people will disagree with me and I will agree with them on some of the facts. But summer is a time when nighttime drives feel immaculate. Each night in summer has its own personality. One night you’re throwing back your 2016 playlist and the other night you’re eating ice cream with your friends watching stars. Some nights you are traveling and sitting beside a water body listening to the sound of waves and other nights you are sitting on your couch with your patio door open, listening to rain.

I can talk about summer experiences all day long. With summer around the corner, it’s time to come out of our caves and start some grooming.

With that in mind, I will be sharing my top tips for improving your appearance this summer and scoring more dates so let’s get started.


The Biggest Complain In this Season

Believe me or not, the biggest complaint I hear from people is that grooming won’t help them because it’s their features that are the problem. WRONG! This is a mindset problem. More specifically fixed mindset problem. We are living in a modern world where we take a modern approach to even old problems. While getting surgery and botox injections is one fix to improve your appearance (which I don’t recommend), there are other better ways. Your appearance is something that depends on multiple factors.


Five ways you can improve your appearance and gain confidence:


1. Hygiene

Guys, especially take notes here. Hygiene plays a huge role in guys getting second or even first dates. Personally, if I see a guy whose nails are long, whose hair is not set up, not well shaved, and smelling bad, I immediately get an ick. Of course, the guys I’m referring to here are potential dates.

Gals, you know the drill. The same rules apply to you. Make sure you are taking a shower and moisturizing your skin on a regular basis.

What’s the fix: Take care of your skin, hair, and nails by establishing a regular skincare routine, washing your hair regularly, and keeping your nails clean and well-manicured. Good hygiene can help you look and feel your best.

2. Dressing for the Dates

This has lately got a lot of attention, thanks to Instagram and TikTok. A lot of normal people (people who are not influencers) have shared their clothing styles which has influenced people to reevaluate their closets and their dressing styles. To be honest, this is one of the second easiest ways to improve your appearance. You don’t have to wear branded clothing to be the most good-looking person in the room. In fact, too many brands are discouraged. You can buy a couple of neutral colors and mix and match them for the easiest combinations of outfits. Figure out your clothing style aka whether tight or loose clothing suits you better.


What’s the fix: Invest in a couple of good quality neutral-color clothing and shoes. Make sure to consider any additional accessories as needed.


3. Exercise and Eat Healthy

Ever heard the phrase, “You are what you eat, so don't be fast, cheap, easy, or fake.” One of the top attractive things to impress someone is by saying you workout. You may ask why? Because it shows that this person cares about their health and appearance. They are also putting effort into themselves and are disciplined enough to show up to the gym and workout. On top of it, if they eat healthy, another green flag.

It’s 2023 and personally, I’m not going out with someone who doesn’t workout. Majorly because working out is related to not only fitness but discipline, good habits, and mindset development.


What’s the fix: Start focusing on your health, go to a doctor, get yourself checked out, set workout goals, and eat what’s best for your body.

4. Focus on Mental Health

Your mental health can have a significant impact on your appearance. If you struggle with anxiety, depression, or any other mental health issues, make it a priority and seek help. Imagine struggling with anxiety and going on a date that will cause you even more anxiety which won’t exactly promise you a second date.


What’s the fix: Focus on yourself before you start focusing on someone else. When you will have good mental health, you will automatically start doing better in life.


5. Work on Personality

This is the most influential factor. If you’re like me, and not exactly a 10/10 looks-wise, you need to work on your personality. Read books, become knowledgeable, know how to flirt, be open-minded, have a positive attitude, be kind and helpful, and don’t only look at physical beauty in people. Remember, if you’re trying to spend your life with this person, beauty is only a matter of time until it fades away but you’ll be stuck with this person’s personality forever. Someone who is well-groomed, let’s say 8/10 looks wise, and a 10/10 personality should be rated a 10/10 (aka me😉).

From my experience, a lot of good-looking people are somewhat a**holes. I think it’s because they know they are pretty so their ego is already inflated and they don’t tend to care about personalities too much. Learn from me, and don’t be like them.

What’s the fix: Focus on personality more than looks. Looks will automatically improve when you will start working on your personality. Looks may attract more people but personality will retain more people.
