Don't Have The Attention Span To Read A Book? This Is For You

Hello friends and family! I hope the start of the new year brought some goals and positive vibes for you. I am very excited to see that you are working on improving your reading skills. As I get wiser by the day (aka getting old), I realize how critical reading is. Not everyone has the patience to read. Those who read sound so much better when they speak. It sounds like they speak wisdom. Not too long ago, I used to be one of those people who complained about not being able to read a book. But the part of the growth mindset is that you have to train yourself to do something and practice to get good at it. Soon, I realized the issue with me, and now I like to read for thirty minutes every day.

For today's discussion, we will talk about some tips and tricks that will help you become an avid reader, so read on 😉

Subject Of The Book Is Very Important for a Focused Attention Span

I remember when I first started reading; only certain books would keep my attention. I would become too antsy and give up too quickly for the rest of them. I was always interested in finance and mindset books, but I needed a hack to get hooked on them. In the recent transitions to remote school, I bought myself an iPad to better view my books and notes. I started downloading free pdfs on mindset books. I started scrolling through it and got hooked. My friend recommended me a biography, but I remember not keeping up with it. Soon I realized that the book's subject was essential and, oddly, its font. If you still can't find a way to stay attentive, try to break it down to five paragraphs at a time and take breaks in between.

One more thing to mention here, for some people, the medium of the book matters. It's the texture and the smell that gives them peace. To some extent, I agree with that, but to avoid paying for hardcovers, I put a paper-like texture screen protector on my iPad, which was a game-changer.

Environment

For me, it really matters where I am reading. I can't read everywhere. It has to be a quiet place. Some people also have the magical ability to read all the time. I can't do that either. In terms of reading a book, I will only read it twice a day. The ideal place for me includes comfortable wear, cozy surroundings, and a cup of coffee or tea.

In Conclusion

I don't consider myself obsessed with books. Instead, I'm obsessed with learning the knowledge in it. Sometimes getting a summary of things does the job, but that depends on the type of book. The books on mindset tell you a story, and you can't exactly summarize a story. I think reading is a pretty valuable skill and can benefit you in many scenarios. It makes you a great storyteller, which is very valuable in the industry where you have to present ideas to people to convince them of something. If you cannot read even after these tips but would still like to develop this skill, keep researching, and don't forget to share your work in the comments below.

Till next time, peace
