Do Vision Boards Really Work?

Vision boards have surged in popularity in recent years as a tool for manifesting goals and dreams. Some people swear by that they work and everything they have on their vision board has come to reality. Which makes people like me and you wonder, what exactly is a vision board and do they really work, or are they just a feel-good exercise?

What is a Vision Board?

The idea is simple: by creating a collage of images, words, and symbols representing your desires, dreams, you’re supposed to attract these things into your life.

How Do Vision Boards Work?

At the core, vision boards are designed to help focus your mind. When you take the time to think about what you truly want, you’re clarifying your goals. In fact, neuroscience supports the idea that focusing on a goal increases the likelihood of achieving it. Visualization activates the brain’s reticular activating system (RAS), which helps filter and process information that aligns with your objectives. By repeatedly looking at images that symbolize success, your brain starts to pay more attention to opportunities that could help you reach your goals.

What Does Internet Say About Vision Boards?

Mainstream internet doesn't seem to agree with the success rate of vision boards but the TikTok girlies say otherwise. I swear if it's not someone who's selling a course, it's someone who's super spiritual trying to sell you on one of these methodologies. Don't get me wrong, I'm spiritual as well, but trust me when I tell you this, everything won't work for everyone. Simply creating a vision board won’t guarantee success. It can be empowering, but it must be combined with action. Think of a vision board as a first step—a tool to set the direction. You still need to actively pursue your goals. While the law of attraction, often linked with vision boards, suggests that thinking positively is enough to bring good things into your life, most psychologists argue that it’s action and persistence that truly matter. And if you have another way to visualize your goals like an excel/ppt (speaking like a true consultant), a journal, paintings, screenshots, you probably don't need a vision board.

Because you had a bad day.....

Vision boards can boost motivation and remind you of what’s possible, especially on difficult days. They also help reinforce positive thinking, which can keep you focused and resilient during setbacks. The visual aspect of the board taps into your emotional side, which can increase commitment to achieving the goals you’ve set. And if you music does that job for you, I hope you have a handy dandy playlist.

In Conclusion

So, do vision boards work? Maybe, and only if they’re part of a larger process that includes clear goals, focused intention, and persistent effort. I'm one of those skeptics who don't believe in vision boards so this past weekend, I spent an hour creating a vision board for myself and set it as my laptop wallpaper. I will update this blog after a week to let y'all know if they work. Until next time, Peace ✌🏼 #vision #visionboards #mindset #goals #driven #dreams #manifest #manifesting #dreamsdontworkunlessyoudo #hardwork #lifestyle #blog #blogger
